This is my 2nd TR3A .. owned a 1959 White TR3A briefly before purchasing present car. My first car was an english car, a 1951 Austin 4 door sedan. I also owned a 1963 MG Midget in the early 70's.
This classic little English red sports car was built in January of 1960, then shipped across the Atlantic to Triumph Sales, Inc. in Pensacola Florida. There it was purchased by a young Navy pilot named Tom Rodger. I tracked Tom down in San Diego in May 2007 and had a great visit and a game of golf at a military golf course.
The car sat in San Diego for 25 years, before being purchased in the Fall of 2000 by Len Drake, who resold it to Tom Addison, who spent a couple of years restoring it. I purchased the car from Tom in December of 2006.
So I am actually the 3rd driver/owner of the car after the two Tom’s. I have done a fair amount of engine and cooling system work on it, replaced and powder-coated the wire wheels,as well as doing some dressing up the car with luggage rack, badge bar, mirrors, driving lights and badges.
